Clothing that can't be sold through traditional retail outlets are sold
to textile recycling companies who reuse the discarded clothing in a multitude
of ways. Millions of tons of textile waste are diverted from landfills
each year through the textile recycling industry. The recycled clothing
is exported to third world and developing countries, re-processed to produce
materials used in the automotive and furniture industries, or for industrial
wiping and polishing rags. For more information on textile recycling,
visit the Council for Textile Recycling website at http://www.textilerecycle.org.
